Legionella Testing And Reporting Now Required in Vancouver

To more effectively respond to incidents, mitigate health risks by pathogens (such as Legionella pneumophila), and ensure compliance with updated standards, operating permits help the City and health authorities track new and existing:
Cooling towers
Decorative water features
Non-potable water systems and other building water systems
1Clearwater has the EOCP team certification and technology to ensure monthly compliance with City regulations, keep your operating permit up to date and do annual and emergency cleaning and disinfection.
As of last January 1, 2021, all decorative water features, cooling towers and evaporative condensers in the City of Vancouver require;
• An operating permit
• A maintenance logbook on-site per system
• Annual offline cleaning and disinfection
• Legionella culture test at system start-up
• Action plan when Legionella bacteria result is >10 CFU/ml
Additionally, effective January 1, 2022, you must now include;
• Legionella tests monthly (Bi-monthly for decorative water features)
• EOCP “Building Water System Operator” certification associated with each system operating permit
